You have been holed up in your room since last March only coming out to eat and pee and I have a couple of things that I need to get off my chest. Since you won't talk to me I figured may be you might be checking in here once and awhile.
First tell your "friends", Barry, Broken Stud, Hot Pockets, Rusty Blades and Duct Tape THAT I'M NOT THE WEB MASTER at No Sleep, I do not control nor know the pass word to start a new thread. I would really, really appreciate it if they would stop calling day and night; bothering me during Hockey Night in Canada. That Don Cherry is really hot and quite the snappy dresser.
Second, last March I bought you a new computer, worked double shifts at The Beer Store to pay for it so you could fullfil your dream of beconing a web master. I didn't work my fingers to the bone so you could surf porn faster and become a different master. I had such high hopes for you, a web designer or some other computer thing so I plead with you put down the Kleenex box and use your computer for good not evil.
Lastly Dougie, I love you but you and your psychotic friends are killing me here. Every year about this time the world turns upside down, so I'm begging you, please, please start a new thread so I can finaly get a good nights sleep. Do the right thing and bring the world back into balance.

  2. Thanks for bringing the site back again.

    Section predictions?
As my son plays in section 6,my money is on a Middelton vs E-Wood final game, with the nod going to Middelton. That being said, the teams below them in the seedings are all capable of winning any game they play. Should be alot of good hockey come next Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Stoughton just glad to be out of section 6, at least now theres a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I miss sucks guy. Might get some more chatter if you dont have to click on the archives and have it on the page right away.

  5. hey welcome back everybody this is going to be a great week of hockey. Lets Drop the puck, good luck to all.

  6. First round upsets? Mad west over sp? Seems like west has been injured all year and sp lookin sloppy recently. Defo over McFarland? That wouldn't be much of an upset, but can get a decent game in goal, I like them. I like Verona coming out in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  7. stoughton has not been in region 6 for a long time now so what was the point there? Do you think region 6 is so powerful? This is the Playoffs, the best team usually does not win it all, the hottest team does! Last year was a prime example, who would have thought U - School would win state.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Agree that the hot team is the safe bet this time of year. Also belive that the teams that rely on one line to carry them are in trouble during playoff time.

Yes section 6 is probaly the hardest section to win. You can take the top 6 seeds and make a point as to why they will win it. Sorry to say, but it is the deepest section in the state.

    ReplyDelete
  9. 7:19 Stoughton definatly didn't

    ReplyDelete
  10. did Noter Dame or Wausau? don't think anybody did. Atleast Stoughton made it to state last year!

    ReplyDelete
  11. 8:17 - Agreed, we could see any of those top 6 seeds (in section 6) in the state tourney. I know the playoffs take on a completely different atmosphere then the regular season, but I thought it was interesting that each of those six top teams have lost/tied to one of the other top six seeds during the course of the season. Anything could happen.

You could even go out on a limb by throwing the 7 seed (sp) into the mix. Based on their win over 1 seed middleton on Feb. 5. Though they have looked sloppy in their last 2 performances.

    ReplyDelete
  12. it may be the deepest sectional, but my guess is whatever team comes out on top, gets beat in the first round of the tournament.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 12:19- Id say the same outcome will happen to half the teams playing.

    ReplyDelete
  14. totally, ever since RBK bought um out they have been terrible

    ReplyDelete
  15. So what are the predictions for tonights games and does anyone see a upset happening tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  16. The three best teams I've seen this year are ECM, Wausau West, and ND. They also have fairly easy sectionals. Section 6 is up in the air as far as I'm concerned, I'm not overly impressed with anyone of them, although I would give Middleton the nod on offensive talent and goaltending. The other sectionals simply don't look very strong this year.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Any early predictions of the teams that will come out on top?

    Section 1 - New Richmond
    Section 2 - ECM
    Section 3 - WsWest
    Section 4 - R/WD
    Section 5 - NDA
    Section 6 - Middleton
    Section 7 - Stoughton
    Section 8 - USM

    ReplyDelete
  18. hey the sucks guy is back. anything else you would like to enlighten us with that sucks?

    ReplyDelete
  19. first upset west over sp 4-3 and section 6 does not suck, go sip some more purple drank you stoughton appologist

    ReplyDelete
  20. your right sectionl 6 doesnt suck, just verona

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good for West. They've taken their lumps the past few years.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Section 6 is by far the deepest Sectional in the state. It may not have the very best team in the state but's it's depth of quality teams is unmatched in the state.

With Round 1 over and only 7 seed SP getting upset this Sectional will be a gauntlet and the team that does make it to state will be very deserving.

Middleton is very good with a great offensive line and quality goaltending. Edgewood is just solid but unspectacular, but solid all around. Monona Grove has some top end fire power but IHO not enough depth to make it all the way through. Oregon has really solid defenseman and are riding a 7 game win streak so they could be interesting if their goaltender gets hot. Verona has enough weapons that if they get solid tending they could be dangerous to anyone. Even Waunakee could be a player with those Ford bro's. Should be fun to see what happens.

  23. At February 15, 2001 12:19:

I agree, it is pretty wild. Just a few examples:
#1 Seed Middleton has beaten and lost to #4 Verona, beat #2 Edgewood, beat #3 Monona Grove, beat #6 Waunakee, and tied #5 Oregon.

The #5 seed Oregon has tied #2Edgewood (also lost one to them), tied #1Middleton, beaten #4 Verona, beaten #6 Waunakee and lost both times (one in OT) to #3Monona Grove.

just those two samples show you how wacky this sectional could get on a given night.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Waunakee is the hottest team in the section right now. Two loses to a lesser team during the season equals a 7-1 win against an overrated MG on Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 4:14 - 4-2 MG over Waunakee

    ReplyDelete
  26. 8:48 0-0 no school no play

    ReplyDelete
  27. 10:28 Waunakee and MG play Friday. School closings shouldn't be an issue by then.

    ReplyDelete
  28. hey state employees, heres a memo regular job sector gave these benifets up years ago.
dont blame politics, blame society and the trickle down effect. now it effecting everybody again with your selfish sick days go back to work and thank god you have a job

  29. 10:36 Don't be so sure day 2 and it does not look like it is losing any steam

    ReplyDelete
  30. maybe we all shouldn't pay our taxes, walk out on our obligations!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thought this was a hockey site not a political site.

Any predictions for the next round of games? I say all the top seeded teams win minus Monona Grove, the Johnston line is all they have and after playing them twice already they will have found a way to shut them down. Final score 6-2 Waunakee with Straus leading the charge with a hattrick.

    ReplyDelete
  32. In case you don't know Warrior, because of politics we might not have hockey!! And that would suck!! Re-elect Walker,
    (glen Walker that is)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Can we talk about the weather next. Seems like the play-no-play situation is resolved.

Any upsets tonight or Friday? The final 4 for section 6 wil be Middelton,Edgewood,Oregon and Waunakee. Picked Oregon becouse ive had the chance to see them play and not Verona, should be a good game. Waunakee is the more rounded team playing better hockey than Monona Grove now. Middelton and Edgewood with easy wins.

    ReplyDelete
  37. depends only on MG's goalie both teams have the fire power, defense and smart play will win this one. I'll take MG in an overtime thriller 4-3

    ReplyDelete
  38. skis will be cloudy today with areas of morning fog as well as drizzle and a few scattered showers.highs, 40's to mid 50's. decreasing clouds from the west tonight with clouds increasing from the north.
lows, 20's to upper 30's . Breezy tomorrow with a chance of snow showers north and some sunshine south. GO VIKINGS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I will take MG in another ho-hum 6-2 0r 6-3 one sided game. MG better in net and at D. Waunakee two good players, the rest very average, score alot on the weaker teams. Middleton goes from the 6 , only top four have a chance, lets be realistic. Stoughton not even in Madison sectionals, so no one cares.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lucky for the Madison sectionals that Stoughton is not there. Stoughton has proved all you haters wrong the past two years and this year will be no different. Ill be sure to let you know how they are doing during the state tourny.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Really, seriouly, I'm not feeling it this year.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah real lucky u wouldve been the 6 seed in that sectional and wouldve been done tonight

    ReplyDelete
  43. 5:29 -

#6 seed in sectional 6? No.
    #4 seed? Yes.

    ReplyDelete
  44. State Bound,,,,toooo easy..February 17, 2011 at 8:47 PM

Who cares what seed they would have been if they played in section 6,they would have never beat the team that is taking the section..Waunakee. Let the azz kicking start on Friday vs the overrated, one line skating lucky charm wearing MG benders. 8-1 with the game out of reach 1/2 way through the first period. Just remember you heard it here first.

    ReplyDelete
  45. stoughton wins in a nail biter 7-0

    ReplyDelete
  46. SPASH over WsEast, 2-1.
    Didn't see that coming.

    ReplyDelete
  47. 8:47 - With a brawl at the end. Good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  48. 9:11*- With a brawl at the end. Good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wow, the Waunakee elitist attitude comes out, MG has beat you twice already should be no different this time. Doesnt matter anyway Middleton will not be denied...destiny. 6th seed in 6 for Stoughton for sure dont ya know.....

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm not sure which game to go to tonight! Both of the section 6 games tonight could go either way, which further proves that this is the deepest sectional in the State. Any of these teams has a legitimate chance of coming out on top in any given night. I think I'll end up going to the MG/Waunakee game since it's closer to Slices! Sorry Stoughton, but you aren't what you have been the past couple of years, good yes, dominating I hardly think so. Good luck playing against Marquette in the sectional final.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Everyone should be going to the WAUNAKEE/mg game. Should be a good game....for about 10min than its all Waunakee from there. 7-2 final score. Cant wait to play Edgewood and outplay a private school. Final score 6-3 with the game out of reach at the end of 2. Next on the list Middelton. Final 7-5 only becouse its in Middelton and the refs will want to make it close.

Does anyone know who we will play in the first round at the state tourny?

    ReplyDelete
  52. It figures Brokeback stud I heard you go both ways also, two blowouts tonight, MG and Verona walk thru. After that it is a Middleton domination on their way to State.

    ReplyDelete
  53. At February 18, 2011 10:53 AM:

Really?? Verona will "walk thru" Oregon. Verona is a decent team and might well win tonight but considering they lost at home jsut last week to Oregon I doubt it will be a "walk thru". Like I said they may win but they will need their "A" game and a full three periods to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Agree that Verona has a cake walk to the next round.Oregon was beaten by teams on a regular basis that Verona dominated. Im sure you have heard of the saying " even a blind squirel finds a nut",that fluke loss was Oregons blind moment.

Dont see MG winning tonight. They too have been riding a luck streak (all year) that comes to an end tonight against a deeper more talented Waunakee. Do look forward to watching the Edgewood/Waunakee game, now thats a game worth attending.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 2:03 -
Oregon beat Stoughton, Stoughton dominated Verona.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Alot of teams beat Stougton, Oregon has no offensive threats and the cow jumped over the moon...After tonight only the top 4 will stand MG easy, Verona easy, Edgewood and the champs Middleton, the pretenders will be gone.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Who hasnt beat Stoughton. They are a middle of the pack team playing in a weak section. They were last year anyway, lets talk about this year.

Oregon gets beat, not once but twice by MG. Verona plays MG and takes it to them for three periods. When your outplayed, outhustled and outcoached you will lose that game. Verona will do all three to Oregon.

Agree with Middelton being the team to come out of the section. Dont agree with the MG pick though. Waunakee is better all around team, while MG has one offensive threat to worry about. Waunakee shuts him down and they win 4-1 in a easy win to face Edgewood.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Let's run some numbers for all you High School Hero's out there that think tonights games will be blowouts:

    Waunakee:
    15-8-1 record
    5 players with 20+ points
    5.33 GPG
    3.84 GAA

    MG:
    19-5-0
    6 players with 20+ points
    6.08 GPG
    2.99 GAA

    Oregon:
    14-6-3
    6 players with 20+ points
    4.52 GPG
    2.14 GAA

    Verona:
    16-6-1
    4 players with 20+ points
    4.57 GPG
    2.23 (Dahlk) GAA

Really, these games look like blowouts to you guys? Given, anything can happen in a game, but really, how do you predict an easy win for any of these teams tonight?

I wouldn't call any of these teams "deep" with firepower, and I think they all look to be closer games than some people on this blog are speculating.

    ReplyDelete
  59. You just made it for them:

    Waunakee 3.84 GAA
5.33 gpg skewed against weak teams.

    MG schedule ranked 11th toughest

I will give you Oregon vs. Verona neither team has a chance to move on anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  60. That's a good point, I agree that MG played a tougher schedule by virtue of the conference they play in. However, with the exception of beating Stoughton twice, I'm not sure MG beat a ranked team this year? Was Oregon ranked when MG beat them?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well I love all of these great predictions people made. Now that Verona and MG are gone we wont have to deal with those jokers anymore. Anyway, people say good luck with marquette for stoughton in the sectional final? first they have to play cmp. They beat them 4-0 last time. lets start there. one game at a time. then if they get past them, whos to say beloit wont beat marquette. WNS almost did tonight. And stoughton outshot and out played marquette earlier this year. Marquette had a lucky redirect with 9 seconds left to tie, and a stoughton defender tripped in ot to give a kid a breakaway. but both teams have to win first. Edgewood has work left too. waunakee is playing well. Oregon might be shot after that 2ot game, but middleton wont have a cake walk either. Playoffs is a new season. Seedings and records and stats dont matter. What matters is whos laughing in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Smarter than the average BearFebruary 19, 2011 at 12:29 AM

10:13 AM - I am impressed! Nice to see a Badger North team whip up on MG

    ReplyDelete
  63. So Verona had a cakewalk with Oregon..... OOPS. No fluke there. oregon beat them twice both AT Verona in a span of 10 days. And while it took double OT Oregon was by FAR the better team on the ice last night. If not for the Verona goalie being absolutely unconscious Oreogn could have blwon them out, the shots were almost 2-1. Oregon might be spent emotionally after that game though, but maybe not you never know. All I know is IF, and I say IF, Oregon plays the way they played last night against Middleton they have a legitimate shot to beat Middleton. Middleton and Oregon played to a 2-2 tie earlier this season and Oregon didn't play near close to their best game in that game. Then again Middleton is an excellent team that has played better since then too. Oregon has 12 seniors who look like they really do not want this to be their last game. To the person that said Oregon has not firepower, well they don't score at the clip some teams do, as illustrated in the numbers above, on the flip side they give up the fewest amount of goals too so it is sort of a wash when you think logically. Personally I would love to see Oregon and Edgewood in the sectional final as both teams met twice earlier this season and both games were a war

    ReplyDelete
  64. I missed the Oregon/Verona game, but in looking at the stats I would agree that it sounds like Oregon was the better team last night. From people who were there, it was a great HS hockey game. I still think Middleton comes out on top of this one.

I went to the MG/Waunakee game and was suprised how flat MG looked, but not suprised that after taking some bad penalties and getting hosed on the 4th Waunakee goal (can you say high stick?)that they just ran out of gas in the 2nd. Waunakee's top line was excellent, and they got a goal right away from their 2nd line. They'll need to figure out how to match EHS' 3 lines if they are going to advance past them, it should be a great game.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Moving on to round 3 in section 6, I'll take Middleton over Oregon. Middleton is an incredibly talented team, with the likes of Kortizinsky, Skibba, Bybee, and Smith in net. Oregon has 12 seniors this year, who would love nothing more than beating the favored Middleton team, but I don't think their motivation is enough to overcome a large gap in skill and speed of play. Secondly, I like Edgewood beating Waunakee. Edgewood has at least four talented scorers that can all put the puck in the net. While Waunakee beat them early in the season, it was certainly under less than ideal circumstances due to a last minute rink change. Waunakee definitely has high-scoring players in the Ford brothers, Behrend and Straus, but let's be honest, they certainly didn't play the hardest schedule in the state. I hate predicting game scores, but here goes.

    Oregon 3
    Middleton 4

    Edgewood 3
    Waunakee 1

    ReplyDelete
  66. And apologies for misspelling Koritzinsky.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Elegiac Stanzas you are the man or woman, extremely clever, and probably went over 99% of the bloggers heads. I bow to your supremacy, I'm not worthy.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oregon over Middleton 3-2, Edgewood over Waunakee 5-3

    Oregon over Edgewood 3-2

Whoever wins the Middleton-Oregon game will win the sectional. Better goaltending than Edgewood and Waunakee. Oregon has better d-men and Middleton has a lethal offense too.

    ReplyDelete
  69. When Waunakee beat E-wood earlier this year it is my recollection that E-wood had at least a couple top players out. I think Gage M was out but also others. Can someone confirm that? It will be interesting to see how Wauankee handles a healthy E-wood.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Edgewood to deep for Waunakee's three man team,
weak D and tending final 6-2.

    Middleton blows out Oregon 6-1

Either will be fun to watch.

Middleton beats Edgewood 4-2 to go to State, bet the house. Middleton wins State.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Middleton-Oregon will go down to the wire I think. Home field might be enough to put Middleton over the top but it will be close I think and I wouldn't count Oregon out.

Edgewood-Waunakee, this one is a toughie but I suspect Edgewood will win this one. Though I suspected MG to beat Waunakee so what do I know :)

Either way, why aren't we talking about the ridiculously late start times for both games on a school night.... seriously, what rocket scientist decided 8:00 was an appropriate start time for a Tuesday night game? You know these kids, and their young fans who want to watch them do have school the next day?

    ReplyDelete
  72. MIA and HIA almost always have 8:00 start times. Apparantly there is hockey out there besides high school that needs ice time too.

    ReplyDelete
  73. The games start at 8:00 so that the parents have time to get home from work (unless your a teacher), change and get to the bar for pregame. Any veteran HS Hockey officianado knows that!

    ReplyDelete
  74. The last two state champs have had 5 or more losses. USM last year had 7....Stoughton has 7.... Anyway you should all root for stoughton to make the semi finals so they can play edgewood or middleton there.. Now that would be a sweet semi final. two madison teams, and a packed house

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah we would but Stoughton sucks......more room at the Coluseum bar without them.

    ReplyDelete
  76. AT February 21, 2011 12:47 PM:

First off to my knowledge the Middleton-Oregon game is at Cap Ice, not HIA or MIA, but Cap Ice does seem to have late starts too. That said take a look at all the starting times of all the sectional games, only 3 have 8:00 start times the rest are all earlier with most being at 7:00pm Seems to me that everyone else is able to accomodate a special scenario like a H.S. playoff game, why not these three? Does it really further the sport and help promote the sport in Madison (where it is needed FYI) if none of the youngsters can go with their families to see the game because it tarts too late on a school night? Took my kids to the Friday night game (7:00 start by the way) and they had the best time ever and saw a tremendous hockey game and couldn't wait to play the next day themselves. Now they can't even go to Tuesday nights game because school is more important than hockey (despite what some on this thread probably believe)

    ReplyDelete
  77. You know there are 2 games in our area. Edgewood/Waunakee is in fact at MIA. I would bet if your kids had to go with one less practice this week to be able to do as you say, you would feel differently. I doubt many one sheet rinks have as many users as MIA.

    ReplyDelete
  78. They have to start late at Cap cause the real hockey players in the area have to practice, it is thier home ice. As far as i know school doesnt start till 8:00 A.M. the game is at 8 P.M.
So problem solved they can go.

    ReplyDelete
  79. The real hockey players? The 6-25-7 team or the 4-29-3 team? Yeah your right they do need to practice. well be more then happy to wait till you dusters are done

  80. Sally the sea shell seller by the sea shoreFebruary 21, 2011 at 6:15 PM

The team with the most state appearances starts with the letter S....Stoughton starts with the letter S... anyways you all should root for Stoughton to make the finals so they can play Superior there....it would be sssssweet

    ReplyDelete
  81. Middleton ends in ton...Stoughton ends in ton ...anyway you should all root for Stoughton to make the semi finals so they can play Middleton there...Now that would be a semi final that would be "tons of fun"

    ReplyDelete
  82. Thats because they play against other AAA teams not below average HS teams. The best HS team in the State probably wouldnt win a game at that level. Hell, they would hardly win a game in a Minn. HS league. Again Stoughton sucks......

    ReplyDelete
  83. keep drinking the powder blue kool aid your going to the show

    ReplyDelete
  84. Callahn, that ton thing is pretty heavy man.

    ReplyDelete
  85. AT February 22, 2011 9:36 AM:
Well, considering Eau Claire did in fact beat the #2 ranked A team in the state of Minnesota tells me that you just like to drink the kool aid and know virtually nothing about hockey and ignore the talent that is growing in the High School ranks in WI. I'd love to see Eau Claire take on the "boys in blue" something tells me you might not like the outcome though....

    ReplyDelete
  86. That game would be decided if they had AAA refs or HS Refs. Two very different ways the games are called. They actually let them hit at AAA and prepare the skaters for the next level style of play. Just tell the WAHA powers to be to let AAA play in the HS tourney, Team Wisconsin seems to be able to play in AAA state tournment. Only seems fair to me, than we could we put all this ifa woulda shoulda to rest.

    ReplyDelete
  87. WAHA has nothing to do with the High School state tourney. The WIAA runs the high school state tourney and a AAA team would not be able to play because they are not a High School. Team WI plays in the AAA state tourney because they ARE a AAA team. This is pretty easy stuff to understand.

    ReplyDelete
  88. They let them hit in High School hockey. Been to plenty of AAA MM games and plenty of good high school games. The way hitting is called by the refs is pretty much the same. MM has a bit more hitting in it but whether or not a hit is legal is called pretty much the same, see the refs are usually the same refs atleast in state games wise......

    ReplyDelete
  89. There is no way that the 1992 Capitols team would beat the top 5 teams in the State on a consistent level this year. I've watched all of them play, and am not impressed with Bob's team this year. Maybe in years past you could say that; but between TW and WEHL, HS Hockey is keeeping some very talented players across the state at their High Schools.

    ReplyDelete
  90. By the way, WAHA does not run a AAA state tournament. The tournment is for Tier I teams which the Capitals and TW are both classified as.

    ReplyDelete
  91. This same stupid-ass argument seems to pop up every year at this time. Bottom line is HS hockey has gotten much better b/c of TW and WEHL and AAA is a viable option for kids who don't have or want the HS experience. Everybody wins. To quote a great line from the movie "Taken" Now is not the time for dick measuring Stuart." Enjoy the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Any games on upset alert tonight?

    GB over Ashwbn 4-3
    Stough. over CMP 4-1

3:16 - Very nice use of that quote by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Really refs the same? Half of the HS refs cant even skate, barely know what offsides is or icing for that matter. They have turned HS into the NHL allstar game. I've seen more BS 2 and 10's this year than ever before. You wonder why so many high scores, you run it up on the weak teams and call yourself a great team. A AAA blowout is 5-2. Play against the best in the country and see what your stats are, your not scoring 6 or 7 a game. Oh and it is time dick measuring Stuart.

    ReplyDelete
  94. This is a High School hockey blog. If you wanna measure dicks head on over to the AAA blog, there are more dicks to compare with!

    ReplyDelete
  95. AT February 22, 2011 4:08 PM:

Yes really the refs are the same. Do you think there is some unlimited supply of referees in Dane County? I've seen the same refs who did last nights Middleton-Oregon game do plenty of Capitals MM games. One of the high school refs (he is reffing high school every weekend) in Dane County was a ref at the MM NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT just last spring in Chicago. So yes SAME REFS. As for the two and 10's this year, that is a new pint of emphasis in this year that check's from behind and other certain illegal hits are automatic 2 and 10's, the new rules took the option out of the refs hands. Seriously, do you know anything about hockey and it's rules or do you just like to spout off.

As for you other assertion, there are alot of great MM and mm AAA teams across the country that would kick the snot out of most high school teams in any state, no one is arguing that, the argument was over this Capitols team versus Eau Claire and frankly, like it or not, the game would be close. The Caps aren't the Mission, haven't been for quite a while now.

  96. Da Bears 57, Caps 1 in a blow out. Da Bears don't play with a goalie, so really hard for them to pitch the shut out.

    ReplyDelete
  97. What does a pint of emphasis taste like, a pint of Guiness would be better. He is right the refs in this area are bad, not all, but a good number are. Da Bears 77, HS teams 1, only because of the no goalie thing.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Heres one for ya on the AAA vs HS debate. Take your top 5 players from the badger north and do the same for the south and see how many played AAA. Of course alot of HS teams would beat the Caps, there best players left to play HS, nothing wrong with it, the fact is they became the players they are from playing at that level. Did fishing season open early?

    ReplyDelete
  99. This is a mindless argument. The reason those players went to AAA to begin with is they were already generally the better players on their respective youth clubs. AAA may have added to what was already there, but from what I have seen, the coaching is no better than the clubs. How much better of a player do you become being overmatched by your competiton, struggling to compete and with no better coaching than the club level? Add to that the travel demands and you see plenty of burnout. Seems like a flawed model in many respects. Maybe that is partly why it is a model not followed by Minnesota. I do not begrudge anyone for choosing that route, but to say they are automatically better b/c of it is simply incorrect.

  100. its gonna suck when all you AAA guys find out your not going to the show and wasted the 4 best years of getting the hockey Bettys to play in front of 5 dads drinkin beer at The Original 6 Bar and Grill while your getting your butt kicked

  101. Ruler

Using your logic Caps have been on the receiving end of your definition of several AAA blow outs, their more but these are the highlites

Jr Blues 7-0, Belle Tire 9-0, Buffalo 7-0, Little Caesars 8-0, Honey Baked 6-0, Philly Jr Flyers 6-1, TI 10-0

So they must be running it up on weak teams.

  104. At February 23, 2011 2:45 PM":

Hmmm, weren't those players already pretty dang good. WHo's to say they got "better" just because they went and played AAA. There is a new geenration here and there are plenty of examples of kids who never played Tier 1 AAA Winter hockey that are better than players on Tier 1 AAA winter teams. Maybe just maybe those players just had it in them to get better and likely would have done so no matter where they played winter hockey. Charlie Parker of Verona never played Tier 1 winter hockey, he seems pretty dang good. Paul Byrne played one single Bantam year of Tier 1 AAAA hockey are we seriously givign all the credit to AAA for those two players. And there are other example, it doesn't stop there

  106. I know alot of you dads want to brag up your kid, but putting names on a blog like this is just going to get them ripped. Alot of average AAA players come over and tear up HS, why, cause there is alot of below average talent that has to play because of numbers. If you have two talented lines and an average tender you can go far. Try that at the AAA level you will end up with alot of "blowouts".

    ReplyDelete
  107. I'm not a dad of either player named. Not even associated with the schools either player attends, it is actually why I used those as an example, trying to be objective unlike some folks on here. All I kow is if AAA hockey is full of folks with attitudes like yours then I thank god we have high school hockey.

    ReplyDelete
  108. This string has gotten off topic so badly that it's not even any fun to follow. It's not a AAA blog, it's a HS Hockey blog. Like they say in the movie; "we're talking about HS hockey here buddy!"

How about we try and turn this around with some predictions for the games tomorrow: Middleton over Waunakee by 2. I have a lot of respect for Waunakee and the way they are playing right now, but they will be matched against a team that is as good if not better offensively and most importantly a goalie that is as good as Waunakee's goalie is playing right now.

On the Stoughton side, I expect them to give Marquette all that they can handle, there's a lot of experience on that squad and they seem to have their momentum back. In the end I like Marquette in this game, by 1. (Since all of their other games have been by 1!)

Interested in what others have to say on these High School games. If you're still having a problem with the whole AAA v. HS thing, go out and get a copy of No Sleep Til Madison, then come back and blog!

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'm taking Middleton by 1 and Stoughton by 1. I just don't think Waunakee has the depth in the 3rd period much the way Oregon didn't. It'll be close for 2 maybe 2.5 but Middleton should win in the end. I am not overaly impressed with Marquette and think Stoughton is just grittier and has the playoff experience to win that one.

In the end I think Notre Dame and Eau Claire will be facing off for the state title though.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'm taking Middleton by 1 and Stoughton by 1. I just don't think Waunakee has the depth in the 3rd period.......... Really, ask Edgewood about the 3rd period aganst waunakee. People better open their eyes becuase that team is for real!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Ok, Middleton by 5 then. They got outshot and outplayed against Edgewood, they won't last against a deep Middleton team. Go Rams!!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. I say its a running clock midway thru the second. Waunakee will lose its horseshoe and 4leaf clover on the way to the rink. A overmatched Waunakee loses by 6. Final 8-2.

Stoughton gets beat by 2 in a evenly fought game.Stoughton just hasnt played well in streaks all year. Rams 5-3.

    ReplyDelete
  113. wish there was 6 more weeks of H S hockeyFebruary 24, 2011 at 6:11 PM

Waunakee beats an over confident middleton 4-2 with an epty netter, and Stoughton kicks Marquettes ass 6-2, R-WD squeaks out a win in a hard hitting snore fest 2-1. the badger conference teams go to state again. Big 8 Sux

    ReplyDelete
  114. You heard it here first

New Richmond: In ancient times the Tigers ate the Spartans for sport (or was it Lions and Romans)

ECM: Every Club Melted (but one)and they will continue

Wausau West: Little less stink from the paper mill

Rburg/Dells: Channeling the ghost of M Lennon

    NDA: No Dusters Allowed

    Waunakee: Late heroics by Straus

Marquette: Sweet 16 and never been kissed

Fondy Springs: Wins one for the WISAA

    ReplyDelete
  115. called AAA last night and you what? Bobby Sutter himself changed my tire. That is dedication to the AAA program. Don't think HS coaches would do that.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Tonight's Middleton vs. Waunakee game will come down to which goalie makes key saves at key times, that's how close I think this game could be. Waunakee's goalie stood on his head against EHS, and that was the difference maker in the game. Three out of Waunakee's five goals against EHS were soft. The difference is the goalie in this one.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Edgewood's goalie is not very good IMHO. I think it depend son whether they contiinually let the Edgewood goalie know the goalie off it's borings all night like he does in about every game. The games where the refs call him out on it are the games Edgewood usually loses, the ones they don't are the games Edgewood usually wins or ties.

    ReplyDelete
  118. that shoudl have said "knock the goal off it's borings" not "know the goalie"

    ReplyDelete
  119. You simpleton Edgewood is not playing tonight, they must have spanked you, you sound bitter. The Waunakee luck will run out tonight,Middleton goalie much better more consistant all season not just in the playoffs and it will show tonight. It will be a 5-1 game Cinderella turns back into a skank again tonight. Shots were 38-22 against Edgewood tonight 33-15. by the way Clark most HS coaches suck...........Middleton State bound baby!

    ReplyDelete
  120. 12:17 and 12:18 HUH? The word you are looking for is moorings, "borings" would be used when somone tries to describe your posts.

For example the duster at 12:17 was not strong enough to knock the net offs its moorings but he sure could write some stupid and "boring" posts.

How many Edgewood games did you actually see? You can't base your entire premise on the one game where they pounded your grocery stick ass.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Agree that the EHS goalie did not have his best game against Waunakee, taking nothing away from the Warriors. Edgewood needed to finish on some of those chances, and couldn't. You can ride a hot goalie a long way in the playoffs, but I think Middleton has the upper hand in this one. I'm calling it a 4-2 victory for Middleton as I don't think that Waunakee is going to beat Smith more than twice tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Cant wait for Waunakee to beat up on Middelton tonight and than listen to read how lucky we were. Waunakee will outwork and outplay whomever they play. Middelton will play this game like they have already won. Problem is, when they realize there is another playing it will be to late. Waunakee silences the home crowd with a easy 6-2 win. Make sure you and your kids root for the section 6 winners at the coliseum during state.

    ReplyDelete
  123. guess well be rooting for middleton than

    ReplyDelete
  124. Middleton, Dells, and Eau Claire in. Can't say that the dells is really a state caliber team. but they won their sectional so thats what it takes. 5 more games tomorrow. Picks?

    ReplyDelete
  125. A little worried about Middleton going to state only beating an average team like Waunakee by one, but hopefully they learn to take every tem seriously. lets win this thing for the 6th.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Great passing and , Defense is what it will take to win at the state tourny. The ice conditions will slow the teams that rely on speed down. Minimize your mistakes and capitilize on your opponents. Which eveer team does that the best is state champs. Its one and done you better bring your A game.

    ReplyDelete
  127. And back checking and playing nice with others. HEY...Captin Obvious..Thanks for falling off the mountain and giving us those words of wisdom. You forgot the team that scores the most will more than likely win. Me..I think the team that does the worst, brings there f'd game, ohhh and bangs susie rotten crotch the best will win the game...GO RAMS..Stoughton SUCKS

    ReplyDelete
  128. wow , somebody needs to take a nap, why do you hate stoughton so much? go get some help, if a high school athletic team gives you this much anger, you have a problem! Or maybe just grow up!

    ReplyDelete
  129. kind funny how basically the stoughton and edgewood goalies lost it for um. 4 goals on the vikings bender on 20 some shots and 5 on the brutal crusaders goalie on about the same. i feel bad for the high caliber seniors like hoth, mcmillian, begglinger, mauer, etc whose high school hockey careers were basically ruined thanks to massive chokes by their senior goalies, all in the third period. the stoughton goalie played on his head the first two periods and from what i heard so did the ewood goalie, but they chocked big time and cost their teams a shot at state.
    blame it on the goalies.

    ReplyDelete
  130. The goalie position is like the field goal kicker in football, everyone remembers the missed 25 yard field goal as time expires, they tend to forget the missed catch that in the 2nd quarter that would have put them in field goal range hence no need for for the one at the end to win it. What about the 5 skaters that let the shot happen? what of the missed 2on 1 opportunities missed by the forwards? Guess you have never played on a team becouse we all know you win and lose a team. Now go back on your boat and go fishing somewhere else. I took the bait out of sheer boredom.

Not only are there some incredibly stupid comments on the latest string of blogs, but some poor spelling as well. Where is Merriam Webster when we need her.

If you're playing hockey on Thursday, good luck you deserve to be there. Looking forward to some great games this week.

  132. Early predictions:

NDA over Marquette by 1 (could go either way here)

    Middleton over Cedarburg by 3

ECM over R/WD by 4 (maybe more)

Wausau West over New Richmond by 2 (empty netter)

    ReplyDelete
  133. Hey Teach,
Merriam Webster is not a woman...not even a person really. Actually two people. Charles Merriam and Noah Webster. Are you spending to much time downtown to do proper research?

    ReplyDelete
  134. I repectfully disagree, I am a real person but have been too busy this season to monitor the blog for egregious spelling errors. My time has now freed up a bit so I will be watching this week.

See you at the Coliseum Bar on Thursday.

  138. Team Wisconsin sends all three teams to Central Districts. TW's talent level must just be light years ahead of the Caps and Admirals considering those teams play all winter together and TW only gets to practice together for a week before the state tourney after playing for separate teams all winter and then go in and win this tourney and advance to Central Districts.

And please don't say that it is an allstar team of all the states high school teams and they should have more talent, because let's remember that ALL AAA teams are basically allstar teams of the best talent from all around it's area and sometimes even other states...........
